What does MBTI® stand for?

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®) is one of the most well-known and respected personal development tools, worldwide. It is based on Carl Gustav Jung’s theory of psychological types, helping people better understand themselves and others – both in professional and personal life.

The tool was created by Katharine Briggs and Isabel Briggs-Myers, who wanted to show that differences between people are valuable and beautiful. Their goal was to reduce misunderstandings caused by a lack of self-awareness and communication challenges.

How does it work in practice?
Completing the MBTI® questionnaire and receiving feedback from a certified MBTI® Coach allows you to recognize your unique abilities and professional strengths.

Carl Gustav Jung (a Swiss psychiatrist) observed that people use different cognitive functions. Briggs and Myers expanded on his theory, which led to the development of the 16 personality types that we now explore through the MBTI®.

Why is MBTI® so popular?
It is the most widely used certified psychometric tool in the world – translated into over 30 languages and applied in millions of sessions each year. By identifying personality preferences, it allows people to recognize their natural strengths, communication styles, and ways of making decisions.

In professional settings – it supports teamwork, leadership development, and conflict resolution by fostering appreciation of different perspectives. On a personal level – it encourages growth by showing how individuals can expand beyond their comfort zones. Its global popularity comes from its accessibility, practical applications, ability to spark meaningful reflection and dialogue about human differences. Organizations use MBTI® for training, coaching, and team building to improve communication and work efficiency – simply because it works!
